Buggy unofficial ICS version |

This came with a somewhat buggy unofficial version of ICS, incompatible with market or google play and USB bluetooth dongles, and with very poor WIFI reception.
When I bought it, there was no indication the ICS ROM was unofficial - in fact, an MM reply to a comment suggested it was official.
One big reason I chose the device was ICS, so I was very unhappy about this. It took quite a bit of correspondence to get this point across, and about 3 weeks for the unit to ship back to China. But in the end MM did agree to a refund (even though the RMA was strictly issued too late).
I'm grateful to MM for accepting the return - a scrupulous vendor might not have. But they do need to be careful with their product descriptions.
(Another thing - the Android specs say that all devices post 2.2ish support USB bluetooth dongles. Apparently the 2.3.4 official rom for this unit doesn't - perhaps this should be spelt out.)

thank you for taking the time to post a review on the unit and let us know about your concerns, we have updated the description and put (unnoficial 4.0.3 firmware) I have to point out we did get the firmware from Ainol, however as we see now they never officially released it. For USB dongle Ainol confirms it works they said to check the settings, thank you its been a pleasure serving you

Wrong Specs |

My tablet come with 1.5 GB, not 8GB;
Battery holds for 2 ~2:30 hours in internet;
399 MB of RAM, the others 113 is for video?
With ICS 4, camera and a lot of other things don't work.

Hi built in nandflash is 8GB, there is only 2 configurations for this model, 8GB and 16GB, thanks
you will get more out of the battery after 6 full battery cycles (fully charged, fully dischared)
for the RAM this is normal there is is used for the preinstalled application and system

Ainol product page still displays Android 2.2
It is not updated or you install your own ICS ?

I don't know why they did not update there page we got the ICS update from them its very nice on this unit, thanks

Is the novo 8 better and newer than the novo 7?
ANSWER:
they are both good , different size , different resolution , I know its not what you asked for but since they are not the same size its hard for me to say which is best as I feel they don't serve the exact same purpose due to size , resolution , aspect ration. thanks
